Flip-Down Safeties 2.0

The Flip-Down Safeties 2.0 are compatible with all 5000 series racks where the depth between the uprights measures at either 30" or 41".

That includes rack configurations possible within the following listings: PR-5000 Rack Builder, Ares™ - 2.0 Builder, Athena® - Side-Mount Functional Trainer Builder, PR-5000 Power Rack (Pre-Selected), and Omni™ - Rack Builder.

Smith machine installed on the outside front of your rack: It depends, if you have your Smith machine installed on the outside front of your rack at an angle, the Flip-Down Safeties 2.0 will be compatible.

Smith machine installed inside of your rack: No, these safeties are not compatible if your rack configuration includes your Smith machine being installed inside of your rack. Our Smith Machine Flip-Down Safeties are coming soon.

Yes, for 6-post set-ups with an Ares™ 1.0, Ares™ 2.0, or Athena® installed, these flip-down safeties are compatible on the inside of the rack.

Flip-Down Safeties 2.0 are rated to 1,000 lbs and drop-tested to that capacity.

Flip-Down Safeties 2.0 bring several design updates over the current model. The most notable functional change is a new twist-to-lock pin, which makes installation easier and improves how the safeties engage with the rack. Beyond that, the update includes extended, more durable molded liners that offer better barbell protection and reduce wear over time, along with upgraded materials and refined construction details that improve overall durability and long-term performance. The safeties have also been given a refreshed look to align with REP's current branding standards. Together, these changes are described as a complete generational improvement over the original model rather than an incremental tweak.

No, an anti-rotation pin is not necessary.

Yes, these safeties have PR-5000 side holes that allow for compatibility with the Leg Roller 2.0.

Installation is simple, requiring the use of both hands but no tools. These safeties come fully assembled. REP's proprietary pop-pin design rotates to lock itself open for a seamless install and just as easily locks into place once fully inserted into the upright. While installation only requires one set of hands, REP always recommends two adults during initial assembly for both your safety and convenience.

When installing to the rack, make sure the twist-to-lock pin is disengaged (by pulling and turning the knob a quarter turn). Once fully seated on the upright, you can re-engage the twist-to-lock pin by simply pulling and twisting the pin.  

There is technically not a Left / Right side, but the use-case will determine the best way to install on the rack. For standard use with no cable systems, it really doesn’t matter which side or direction these are installed. But for use in conjunction with an Ares 2.0 or Athena, you will need to pay closer attention to the orientation and side. REP recommends always swinging these in from the inside of the rack to avoid contact with the cable. This also means that the twist-to-lock pin is always facing the outside of the rack.

Wipe them down after use, particularly liners that get exposed to sweat or chalk. After any significant drop on the flip-downs, check that twist-to-lock pin fully engages and that the flip-down safeties can be installed and removed from the upright with no issues. Inspect the TPU liners for wear over time, especially barbells are frequently dropped on these safeties.
